Introducing John Hosty

Captain John HostyMark Samis, Vice President of Operations for ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS® Remediation Services (ESRS), a division of Cunningham Lindsey Canada Claims Services Ltd, is pleased to announce the appointment of Captain John Hosty as Director Training and Environmental Preparedness, of the new ESRS Health, Safety, Environmental Training and Emergency Response Planning branch.

John will be responsible for development and implementation of a broad range of health and safety and environmental response training and emergency response planning services that include hazardous materials handling; regulatory compliance; spill and emergency response; and confined space management.

"John can provide a higher level of technical training to our employees and clients," said Mark. "He will help us better develop and train our new and existing employees as well as assist our clients to better plan and manage their environmental exposures and their environmental emergency preparedness planning."

With extensive experience in waste management and hazardous materials, Captain Hosty, a Master Mariner, initiated and grew a successful hazardous materials response company, was Executive Director of the first Hazardous Materials Management degree program in North America and has developed numerous educational programs for universities and colleges including emergency response to hazardous materials, crude oil washing, confined space entry, petroleum tanker safety, major oil spill management, inland spill management, and transportation of dangerous goods.

A published author, John co-authored “A Practical Guide to Chemical Spill Response” and is a regular speaker at Hazardous Materials conferences in North America and runs workshops and seminars across Canada.
